INTRO TO BASKETBALL - Spring 2020

Intro to Basketball is designed to teach children (ages 3-5) and their parents the basic skills and fundamentals of basketball. Each parent will work with their child one-on-one in a controlled, noncompetitive environment.

START SMART SOCCER: 3-5 YEARS OLD - Fall 2019


The Ludlow Community Center/Randall Boys and Girls Club will be offering children ages 3-5 the chance to get a head start on learning the foundations of soccer. Start Smart Soccer is a program designed to teach children and their parents the basic skills of Soccer. Each parent will work with their child in a one-on-one controlled, educational environment.

Each session will consist of 12 participants. A third and/or fourth session will be added, if the first two sessions fill up.

The cost due on registration day will be the price for Recreation. If your child makes a higher-level team, you will have a week after teams are announced to pay the additional cost.

Teams on the recreational level will be divided up equally. Therefore, player, team, or coach requests will not be accepted.

Basketball Evaluation Information

Grades 3-4
Saturday will be a tryout/evaluation for everyone. Whether you signed your child up for Rec or CYO, it is expected they will show up to this first evaluation. Their attendance will help aid in putting together balanced teams and a better overall experience for kids. Parents are encouraged to go to this first tryout. The second evaluation for both boys and girls will be the following day, Sunday. This evaluation will only be for those who are looking to try out for CYO. It is advised that players attend both tryouts to be able to make a CYO level team.  Players may still be eligible to make these levels if they only attend one tryout, but it could affect their placement due to an inability to properly evaluate their skill level.

High School Rec Basketball 2020

High School Boys Rec Basketball will be returning to the Ludlow Boys & Girls Club! The season will be starting mid-February. Kids are asked to sign up as a team, but individual signups are accepted. If there are enough individual signups, a team will be made out of the lot. Teams will be composed of 8-10 kids. ALL games will be hosted at the Ludlow Boys & Girls Club gymnasium. The season will be capped off by a single elimination style playoff. PLAYERS WHO ALREADY PLAY ON FRESHMEN, JV, or VARSITY HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS, ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.

Coaches Needed:
Our Basketball League is comprised of volunteer coaches. We are looking for and need committed and caring parents to step up and help coach our youth in the sport of basketball. We will be offering coaching clinics for basic skills this year to help set you up in the right direction in teaching our children how to properly play the game. If you or someone you know is capable and willing to help coach high school recreational basketball, please contact Matt Thompson at the Club prior to registration. All parents/volunteers must complete a background check before being allowed to coach with our organization.

FUN WAYS TO RUN - YOUTH CROSS COUNTRY PROGRAM - Fall 2019

Ages: Boys & Girls in grades 3 - 8

Kids learn to love running through fun games that involve constant running. Each participant will be expected to be involved in the games to help increase their running fitness.

Location: the Club's Athletic Field

Practice Dates & Times:
Wednesdays, Sept. 11th – Oct. 16th, 5:45-6:45 PM

Races:
Sept. Sept. 20th, Sept. 27th, Oct. 18th 6:00 PM Until Last Runner Finishes

Participants will run a 1.5 mile cross country course near the Ludlow Community Center/Randall Boys & Girls Club facility. Parent volunteers will be needed during race days to ensure children’s safety along the course.

TRACK & FIELD - Spring 2019

2nd-8th grade coed

This program will include friendly competition with relays, sprints, and long distance runs focusing on running form and strategy. We will also work on a multitude of different field events with high school athletes and coaches. Participants will practice once a week and compete in a modified track meets. This year, there will be TWO cross-town meets!

DATES: May 1st - June 5th (rain date June 12th)
