Congratulations to Lauren Teixeira, our 2018 Youth of the Year!
Lauren Teixeira has been a member of the Ludlow Boys & Girls Club for 13 years. She began in afterschool care and attended summer camp. While growing up at the Club, Lauren aspired to be like her counselors. She joined the Junior Counselor program, transitioned to Counselor in Training and will be a Lead Counselor this year at summer camp. Lauren has developed into a very driven and caring individual. She is an active member of her school’s National Honor Society, from participating in fundraisers to ultimately organizing a winter volunteer project for her chapter. Additionally, Lauren is the first student ambassador for the Ludlow CARES Coalition, which strives to create a healthy and successful community while educating youth on substance abuse. She has completed over 30 hours of volunteer service this past year, including working with our Club’s track program. On top of service extracurriculars, Lauren balances a 4.2 weighted GPA and three sports: soccer, swimming, and track & field.
Lauren plans to study Finance at Mercy College in New York this fall. Lauren is proud to represent the Ludlow Boys & Girls Club in the Massachusetts State Youth of the Year competition on June 4th, where she will compete against 35 other candidates.
Lauren is a Club kid at heart and believes in the positivity it brought to her life and would like to share its message. In Lauren’s eyes, “Every day is a new opportunity to make a meaningful impact on someone.”
