Campers at the Ludlow Community Center/Randall Boys & Girls Club had a special visitor today – Mr. Paul King. Umpire Paul, who grew up in Worcester, has worked as a referee in the NFL for the past 10 years while still serving as a middle school math teacher in his hometown. Mr. King shared his story with the campers, and how his dream of becoming a professional baseball player shifted directions after being injured in college. He was able to transition to being a referee, which helped him to pay for his college education.
Umpire Paul discussed the importance of education – how he applies math skills on the football field; and how a healthy lifestyle helps keep life balanced.
Thank you, Umpire Paul for your wonderful visit and for showing us how the Club's values are present in the coolest of jobs!
